Welcome to REd REx!

Featured Profile:
Kulwant Dhaliwal - Founding Director of Hi8us Midlands.
She has developed and delivered a range of innovative arts and media projects over the past 10 years.

Hi8us have a long track record of creating and delivering arts and media projects with diverse groups of young people. They try to stay in touch with the young people they work with and regularly consult new groups of young people when developing project ideas and many of these projects are led by the young peoples’ interests.

Urban Legends - young people are fascinated by Urban Legends and Myths and quick to circulate them, spreading them using all the new technology available. Hi8Us decided to capitalise on this interest by developing a project that allows the group to use and create media, research and document Urban Legends and even make up some new ones! working with over 30 young people from across the West Midlands. The project theme provided young people with a fun way to pick up a wide range of media skills including understanding film, lighting techniques and effects, illustration, creative design, branding, editorial, directing and drama and was specifically designed to allow young people to connect with each other. The project website was launched on Saturday 19th June at Aston Hall, a fitting venue as it has its very own creepy legends. The project is now working to promote the website so that anyone can upload cases under investigation to the site, with accompanying evidence. The project has built links with more schools and youth organisations and plans to distribute worksheets to enable them to explore the theme and submit their own evidence to the site.

Every case featured on the website appears on a map and across other social networking and media sites across the web — the project will continue to spread the evidence.
